Web Hosting

Shared, VPS and Dedicated Servers

Web hosting has so many variables that it is easy for the clients to get lost, as even the developers who have a lot of prior knowledge can. However, all sites and blogs on the Internet start with web hosting. Therefore, our clients can be confident of complete support in dealing with this complex issue. Briefly speaking it can be said that a company can be termed as a hosting provider if such company sells the server space and other services related with it. However there are several different types of web hosting. In the beginning, the clients have to decide which type of hosting they need and then, they can consider various companies and what is offered by these companies regarding their hosting needs. One of the three basic ways in which hosting packages can be differentiated from each other is to consider the technology that has been used for the server. This provides the following categories of web hosting, Shared, VPS and Dedicated

Shared hosting is considered as the cheapest and the best option for the beginners. In this way, shared hosting is the budget option. Although, it is very cheap yet it is not suitable in all cases. In case of shared hosting environment, a large number of users are put by the host on a single server. This large number can go up to 1000 users. Each of these users may have several sites and the result is that a single server may be housing around 3,000 sites. Problems may arise because all these websites will be sharing the resources of server. In case one of these websites have a faulty code or such website gets a lot of visitors, it may end up using 75% memory of and the result is that the rest of the sites will have only 25 percent of the total RAM. The result is that the websites may go down or load slowly although the issue has originated at another website.
VPS Hosting is more powerful than shared hosting. It stands for Virtual Private Server and it is considered as the most popular service while upgrading and at the same time it is the most well-balanced one also. However a VPS server is still operating in a shared environment but there is a difference in the way it is shared. Generally, a VPS server is limited to 10 to 20 and it decreases the stress on the system. However the real improvement is present in the form of the hypervisor. Therefore a VPS server is split into as many parts as the number of users. For example if there are 10 users, and 10 GB of RAM and 200 GB of hard disk space available on the server, every user will be allowed to spend one GB of RAM and 20 GB space. Once a user has hit the RAM limit, the site of such user may go down but other users will not be affected. In this way, hypervisor has the responsibility of managing the virtual machines that create this separation on the server.

Dedicated hosting is recommended for the users who have more than 100,000 visits per month. In case of this hosting service, the above mentioned “bad neighbor” issues are not present and the client is only one on the server. The result is that the host has a lot of benefits, although it may have certain downsides. In this case, it is possible to extensively customize. The clients can choose the amount and the type of memory, the operating system to be installed and other hardware elements, making up the computer. This allows for a lot of flexibility that may be required in case of certain specialized software.
